About Windalarm
Windalarm Amsterdam is a fast-growing movement that opposes the plans of the Amsterdam College (Groen Links, D66, PvdA and SP) to install 17 or more 150-200 meter high mega wind turbines in the city.
For health reasons (including noise), mega wind turbines do not belong within at least 1500 meters of densely populated neighborhoods. In addition, the green lungs of the city must remain a place to relax and nature (birds) in the IJselmeer area and Waterland must be spared. We state that there are sufficient alternative locations within the region, in North Holland or in the Netherlands. This requires provincial and national direction.
We support the energy transition but believe that this can be done better, more social and cheaper. Read more on our website how and why.
Windalarm brings together local groups in 10 areas of Amsterdam and the surrounding area to dissuade politicians from this bizarre plan. As a Windalarm we are not affiliated with any political party. Windalarm's income comes from donations from sympathizers. All people within Windalarm work on a voluntary basis.
Windalarm Amsterdam works closely with action groups in Diemen and Weesp. The proposed turbines in Amsterdam are on top of neighborhoods in Diemen and the turbines in Diemen are on top of neighborhoods in Amsterdam (IJburg). Weesp will merge with the municipality of Amsterdam. We therefore act together.
Windalarm Amsterdam originated in November 2020 and has the organizational structure shown below. The core group consists of 10 people from various backgrounds. We are always looking for further support. Please contact us for this.
